Summary of Changes

The eV committee expect that most teams will welcome the return to a Saturday event. In order to minimise the impact on the regular running of the RAC Driving Centre we have scheduled the event in the late afternoon.

Your committee has also taken steps to simplify, both the organisation of the event day, and the rules which govern the scrutineering of vehicles. Specific details are covered in the new rules which are downloadable from the documents page of this web site. Each team will need to be familiar with the details of this years documentation, however, a summary of key changes is as follows:

  1. *Only four categories this year - Class A will be Years 7 - 10
    Class A2 has been dropped
    Classes B & C remain unchanged

  2. *Any vehicle, in any class, is eligible to run in both events on the day

  3. *The vehicle budget has been increased to $1,500

  4. *There are now no limits on the number of entries from any organisation

  5. *The minimum weight regulations have been removed

As always, we welcome any constructive comments regarding this event. The general intent of the changes are to get more vehicles on the track and to improve the efficiency of the scrutineering process.

While the scrutineering and general progress on the day last year was frustratingly slow,  this was largely as a consequence of too few people with too may things to do. Your committee would welcome a few additional helpers with scrutineering and marshalling on the day.

New committee members would also be welcomed. The task is not onerous. We generally only meet twice a year with the balance of organisation being done via email.
